On Friday, we took a half day trip to the northwest region of Spain called “La Alcalá de Henares”. It was the home of Cervantes through the 16th century and the early 17th century. Over time the city has grown to gather influences from Spanish and Italian culture. Many of it’s streets are similar to those that can be found in Italy. We walked through Cervantes’ house and checked out the local university. The main city square was just as beautiful as the city. Although not very large (we traversed the span of the city in a matter of 3 hours), the city had it’s own unique personality when compared to madrid. After we’ve had our share of views, we grabbed dinner at a local bar and grill and headed back to Madrid.
