Last year, we ended up taking a trip out to Interlaken in Switzerland. It’s known for it’s 45 mountain railways, cable cars, chair lifts, and ski lifts that take thousands of international visitors across up into the Swiss Alps. With it’s blue waters and hundreds of different activities, there’s something for everyone in the small vacation town.
While we only spent a short time in Interlaken, it was just enough to walk around downtown and checkout some of the local restaurants before heading out to Montreux on the GoldenPass line the next day.
If you only have a short time in Interlaken, I’d recommend spending some time around the different lakes that make up Interlaken.
To the east is Lake Brienz, with its turquoise waters and steller mountains views. I was able to capture some of the footage below over Lake Brienz.
To the west is Lake Thun, a hot spot for kite-surfers and sailors. This is the lake that has numerous beaches surrounding it, and, in the summer, and is one of the best areas to beat the heat.
Just to the west of Interlaken is the small town of Unterseen, a medieval town that’s a little less touristy and quieter than Interlaken. If you’re looking for a quick escape, it’s definitely worth checking out.
